Markus Stitz is a route designer, filmmaker, photographer and guidebook author based in Edinburgh. He is best known for becoming the first person to cycle around the world on a singlespeed bike, covering 34,000 kilometres unsupported. Lemonsjøen Fjellstue

Lemonsjøen Fjellstue offers a serene and tranquil atmosphere surrounded by stunning natural landscapes. The air is crisp and clean, with the sounds of birds and wildlife providing a peaceful soundtrack. The cozy cabins and warm hospitality of the staff assure you a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Bygdin Høifieldshotel

This hotel has a long tradition of hosting active mountain people who want to visit Jotunheimen. Enjoy cosy rooms in and the historical atmosphere. The food here is a highlight of your stay. Delicious dinners are made from local ingredients and served with love.

Filefjellstuene

Enjoy a cozy cabin feeling in state-of-the art accommodation. Once a traditional mountain farm, this is now a modern mountain lodge with comfortable rooms with ensuite bathrooms, and a great restaurant in the main lodge.

Gomobu Mountain Lodge

Known for its cozy atmosphere and friendly hosts, Gomobu is a welcoming mountain lodge on the edge of Valdresfjellet. The lodge serves tasty, locally sourced food that reflects the region’s traditions and flavours.

Kamben Høyfjellshotell

Located on Golsfjellet, this is a charming mountain hotel with a long tradition of hospitality and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. The welcoming hosts make sure guests feel at home from the moment they arrive. The hotel is known for its excellent cuisine, offering delicious five-course dinners made from locally sourced ingredients that reflect the tastes of the region.


Meals

All restaurants offer food based on local ingredients. For breakfast there will be buffet. At breakfast you will make your own packed lunch to bring for the day. It is possible to fill a thermos flask, check with the accommodation. Dinner will be served in the afternoon/evening.


Route

Most of the tour follows well-maintained gravel roads. Occasionally, the roads might have potholes, but are generally in good condition. Furthermore, there are also some brief sections on asphalt or narrow trails.

The route for the trip was devised by Markus Stitz & Jotunheimen Travel. The trip follows mainly on good gravel or asphalt roads, but there might be short sections where you cycle short sections in rougher terrain. Stages can reach up to 100 km and have some challenging climbs. The trip is suitable for intermediate riders with good endurance, but who do not want to rush between each destination.



How to get there

By airplane: Oslo Airport — alternatively referred to as Oslo Gardermoen Airport or simply Gardermoen — is an international airport serving Oslo, the capital and most populous city of Norway. The airport is the second largest in Scandinavia and the Nordics. There are frequent trains from the airport to Oslo Central Station.

By train: Oslo Central Station is the main railway station in Oslo, and the largest railway station within the entire Norwegian railway system. It connects with Jernbanetorget station, which is served by trams and the Oslo Metro.

By ferry: There are two main ferry connections to Oslo. From Kiel (Germany) with Color Line with 7 sailings weekly. From Copenhagen (Denmark) with DFDS Seaways) daily.
